About us

 

Mission Statement

The central purpose of the Austrian Academic Library Consortium is (1) the coordinated acquisition and management of electronic resources (primarily databases and e-journals) and the usage rights of these resources within the consortia, (2) coordinated resource administration, (3) a unified voice to represent the consortia members both internationally and within library consortia, such as GASCO (German, Austrian and Swiss Consortia Organisation), ICOLC (International Coalition of Library Consortia) and other interest groups, (4) joint collaboration for national and international Open Access initiatives. The Head Office of Kooperation E-Medien (Austrian Academic Library Consortium) is a department of the Austrian Library Network and Services Ltd (Österr. Bibliothekenverbund und Service GmbH), which also oversees operative support.
   

Participating members

Consortia members consist of university libraries, libraries of universities of applied sciences, state libraries, Austrian National Library and other public and private non-profit research and educational Institutions. A list of participating organisations and contacts can be found under Members.

Information on tender procedures

In order to fulfill public procurement obligations within the framework of joint procurement processes, the Austrian Academic Library Consortium carries out product renewals in accordance with the statutory provisions of the Austrian Federal Public Procurement Act 2018 (BVergG 2018). In the framework of the tender procedure, the tenderer must complete and submit a full set of forms together with the offer (incl. license agreement), including documents proving compliance with the eligibility and selection criteria.
